Our director Rachael Exton and her husband Kev walked 16 miles along the Northumberland coastline on Thursday, in aid of the Greggs Foundation. This is a cause that as a company we really care about as it gives back into our local community. We currently support three local schools allowing them to open breakfast clubs and now offer free a breakfast to over 1200 children every day in the Manchester area.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who chose to be part of what was a hugely enjoyable event. Now 16 miles of walking is no small feat (as you can tell from how happy we were to see a drink) we were delighted to join nearly 200 people in raising over £30,000 for the Greggs Foundation including £450 raised by us. The funds raised will play a pivotal role in supporting the Greggs Breakfast Clubs.
The Greggs Foundation is a charity which aims to build stronger healthier communities by focusing on poverty and inequality. They distribute around 3.5 million a year to charitable organisations across the UK. The Breakfast Clubs are a flagship programme and one of the key ways in which they support low income families and children. Their network of Breakfast Clubs run all over England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. From their first club in 1999, they have grown the network to run over 840 clubs nationwide, helping to feed over 52,000 children daily.
A big sweaty thank you to everyone who sponsored us.
