£4 million investment in our state-of-the-art facility

We are thrilled to unveil a significant milestone in our journey.

Thanks to the remarkable efforts of our team and the tremendous success we’ve experienced in recent years, the need for additional space has become imperative. As a result, we are expanding. However, our commitment to staying rooted in the local community remains steadfast. In our pursuit to retain the exceptional talent within Wythenshawe, we are proud to announce the acquisition of a new 54,000 square foot facility situated just around the corner from our current location.

We’re proud to announce a £4 million investment in our state-of-the-art facility, set to be fully operational by the end of 2024. This expansion includes a cutting-edge secondary grating line dedicated to our valued retail clients, reducing lead times and ensuring a more efficient supply chain.
With an additional 250 pallet spaces, we are streamlining operations to better serve our diverse client base. The extension also encompasses our warehouse, packing room, and production lines, highlighting our commitment to providing a safe and improved working environment for our 150 employees.

Our journey has been marked by challenges, with Brexit and the global pandemic causing a sudden 70% drop in sales. However, we’ve shown great resilience and adaptability, not just weathering the storm but emerging stronger than ever. Liz, our founder, expresses, “We’ve bounced back from the challenges, and this investment is a testament to our commitment to our customers, our community, and our incredible team.”

At Extons Foods, our people are our greatest asset. We proudly uphold a people-first philosophy, attributing our exceptional reputation for service and quality in the industry to our dedicated 150-member staff. This expansion is not merely about increasing capacity; it’s a strategic move to reward our employees and contribute to the local economy.

Rachael our Director emphasises the significance of our workforce, stating,

“We want to reward our workforce and enable them to offer much-needed employment, providing crucial investment into the local area. We’ve stayed true to our roots and continue to reinvest in the local community, never moving away from South Manchester.”

This expansion is a celebration of growth, resilience, and community commitment. As we approach a projected turnover of £100 million by the end of 2023, we stand as a testament to how a family-run business, deeply rooted in its community, can overcome challenges and not only recover but thrive. Our success story goes beyond cheese; it’s about a company that cares deeply for its employees and the community it proudly calls home.
